Two Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding Marquee

Posted on

Here are some things you can do to ensure that you choose the perfect wedding marquee.

Pick a marquee that can accommodate more guests than you need it to

If you can afford it, you should select a wedding marquee that can accommodate several more guests than you need it to. This is particularly important to do if you're going to erect the marquee in an isolated area (such as a rural field). The reason for this is that when a wedding is held in a marquee, the guests will usually remain inside it or directly outside of it for most of the event.

In contrast, if a wedding is held at a hotel, guests have the option of, for example, going beyond the event room throughout the celebrations and taking a stroll around the rest of the hotel, popping up to their hotel room to take a little breather or visiting the hotel bar. If however, your marquee is in a field with no other facilities, the guests will probably simply stay put. As such, it's important that your marquee is roomy and very comfortable so that the guests don't feel cramped or trapped but instead have plenty of space inside it in which to mingle, walk around, dance and sit.

Opting for a very spacious wedding marquee will also mean that your guests will find it easier to get up from their own tables and walk by other ones without bumping into other guests, knocking over drinks or having to squeeze through any excessively narrow aisles between the seating areas.

Choose a marquee with a clear roof if the weather forecast for your wedding day looks good

If the weather forecast for the big day looks good and you're expecting clear skies throughout both the day and the evening of your wedding, then you should consider ordering a marquee with a clear roof. Whilst marquees with opaque roofs are great for creating a cosy, magical atmosphere inside when the weather is wet or cloudy, a marquee with clear roofs are ideal if you want the convenience and comfort of celebrating indoors, whilst still being able to see and enjoy the gorgeous blue skies or the clear, starlit evening sky.

If you'd like to choose a marquee like this but are concerned that the clear roof won't offer your guests any shade if the sun gets very bright or hot, you can always drape a few strategically placed sashes or greenery garlands across the ceiling of the marquee to provide some shade; this will allow your guests to enjoy the beauty of the clear skies when they dine, whilst ensuring that they don't find the glare or the heat of the sun too overwhelming.
